NNEKA UNVEILS EMOTIONAL NEW SINGLE ‘WITH YOU’

Pairing modern production with Nneka’s delicate vocals, ‘With You’ is an emotion-driven ballad with love and loss at its heart. The accompanying official video, which includes a guest star performance from fellow musician, Adey Omotade, provides a visual interpretation of these emotions, depicting scenes in a breakdown of a relationship interspersed with dramatic and sultry landscapes. ‘With You’ follows recent singles ‘This Life’, ‘Yahweh’, ‘Tea?’ and ‘Love Supreme’, tracks that broke Nneka’s five-year musical hiatus.

Skata Vibration

A root bass, along with a rugged percussionist, hypnotic guitarist, conceptual drummer and an eclectic vocalist all walk into a Lagos bar. Each bringing to the space a unique sense of sound, soul and superstitious color. Skata Vibration is Adey, Jad, Laughter and Stiques. They describe themselves as ‘a bunch of underground musicians jamming’.

Art House Foundation

Arthouse Foundation is hosting Adey Omotade in a performance of ‘soundscape and fontscape’ loftily entitled Fifth Eye.

The opening event is 2pm on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at 28 Norman Williams Street in Ikoyi.

Arthouse says the show “is a blend of classic unforgotten music and curated electronic sound, featuring historical live recordings of Nigerian traditional music, in a visionary mix of open pentatonic scales from around the world and other peculiar sounds captured around the city of Lagos”.

The project also includes a series of projections of Omotade’s fontscape series, where the artist infuses typography and graphic design as a conduit for representing the energy of Lagos.

This presentation includes an open session with friends on Sunday, September 28-29th, at 2 PM.

The project will travel to the Centre Pompidou in Paris, France, for a presentation on October 24, 2019.

The Band the Fridge, SA

A neo-jazz band that forms its sound from the urban space it was conceived in. “Sophisticatedly Easy” in its look and sound, “The Fridge” has few counter parts and many have failed to imitate them. These musicians are young yet create mature music. Their unconventional approach to the iconic genre of jazz is both risky and refreshing. Pushing the envelope and fusing together jazz, African folk and soul sounds.
